What is the color of the full moon that y’all saw on the 7th of September?! Was it the regular ol’ silvery “Corn Moon” or the “Blood Moon”?! The “Blood Moon” for you, the regular ol’ silvery “Corn Moon” for you, and you saw both…Hmm, you saw both colors of the moon?!
You were watching the “Blood Moon” on YouTube and then you peeped ya head up, out the window.
As for those of you who live in the Americas and didn’t get a chance to see the “Blood Moon”, don’t worry! You’ll get to see it year on the 3rd of March. Folks living in Europe, Africa, or any part of Asia that isn’t East Asia will get to see the ol’ silvery “Worm Moon”…What the cheese biscuits?! The Worm Moon! Everybody knows whenever you put worms and blood together, something really, really bad is going to happen!
Hmmm, I wonder what the humans are doing in order for the “Blood Moon” to come in with the “Worm Moon”?! It must be all of that Cain the humans are raising! Welp, it ain’t nothing the po’ humans can do about it because the “Blood Moon” is a celestial event that occurs due to the total lunar eclipse.
The total lunar eclipse occurs whenever the Moon moves in front of the Earth, for a while, causing the Earth’s shadow to fall on the Moon and to color the Moon blood red. Yeah, that down there!
The also eerily beautiful sight is the result of the Earth blocking the sunlight from the Moon. The Earth’s blocking of the sunlight to the Moon results in the Earth casting two shadows, one from the left and the other from the center. Earth’s shadow on the left is called the penumbra, and the shadow from the center is called the umbra.
The Sun tries passing its light to the moon from the left, but no dice! Then the Sun tries passing its light to the Moon from the center, and again no dice! Having nowhere to go to get any light, the Moon finds itself stuck in the center of Earth’s shadow. The Moon is glued in Earth’s inner shadow for several hours. During that time, the Earth’s atmosphere colors the Moon.
Remember, now, the Earth is getting the sunlight that it’s blocking from the Moon. Whenever the sunlight comes through the Earth’s atmosphere, the sunlight interacts with the particles and clouds in the atmosphere and produces various colors. The colors we see are the colors that have the longer wavelengths. The colors with the longer wavelengths stay together because they are not broken apart by the particles and clouds. However, the colors with the shorter wavelengths are not visible because they are broken apart by the particles and clouds. The blood red color that we see has the longest wavelength.
Therefore, if the Earth’s atmosphere has lots of clouds or lots of particles of dust, then the Moon will get the blood red color that the witches love!
